With the flexible Navette multi-level shuttle, SSI Schaefer offers a solution for increasing efficiency in the storage and picking of trays, totes or cartons in fully automated warehouses.

The Navette is integrated into the steel framework of the automated small parts warehouse aisles. It is guided by travel and support rails and operates as a single component, serving up to eight storage levels – two of them actually in parallel. An important design feature is the fact that it is equipped with two load handling devices (LHDs), such as carton grabs, arranged one above the other. Their distance from one another corresponds to the distance between two rack levels. Each load handling device can transport two trays, totes or cartons.

Operation across storage levels with genuine double cycles

In one load cycle, the Navette moves a total of four transport units simultaneously, serving storage locations on two storage levels in a single operating sequence. So, unlike single-level shuttles, the Navette is able to operate in genuine double cycles. The multi-level shuttle can store and retrieve simultaneously in just one positioning process. This minimises travel times and doubles process efficiency.

Das Navette ermöglicht den Zugriff auf ein maximales Artikelspektrum in den Lagergassen und einen optimalen Workflow durch parallele Prozesse. Dabei lassen sich die auf dem Navette basierenden Systemlösungen exakt auf das jeweilige Auftragsvolumen, den geforderten Durchsatz und die individuelle Artikelstruktur hin zuschneiden und zeichnen sich sowohl auf Systemebene als auch in der Anlagengestaltung durch ein Höchstmaß an Skalierbarkeit aus.

In Verbindung mit der 3D-MATRIX Solution® sind Durchsatzleistungen möglich, die bisher undenkbar waren. Navette-Heber fungieren bei diesen Lösungen als Bindeglied zwischen der Fördertechnik und den einzelnen Navette-Fahrebenen und sind in ihrer Positionierung und Anzahl in der Lagergasse frei wählbar.

Highly dynamic goods-to-person picking, in which storage, buffering and individual sequencing can be performed in a single system. Retrievals are prepared for loading exclusively for the relevant connected picking and shipping locations, without bundling and distribution via a downstream conveying system.
