SSI Schaefer launches the Orbiter System

SSI Schaefer’s own satellite system, the ‘Orbiter’ has successfully been launched after 18 months of product development.

‘Schaefer Orbiter System (SOS)’uses a unique power technology and incorporates new safety concepts for storage and transporting units, it consists of the satellite with docking station, and hence considerably increases the efficiency and performance, as well as the safety operation of the satellite storage concept.

According to Mr. Alan Clark, Managing Director, SSI Schaefer Australia, the Orbiter and docking station are designed for high density storage solutions using any type of material handling equipment. “The Schaefer Orbiter and docking station are provided as a set, with lock-in pins safely securing the Orbiter into the docking station, preventing accidental slippage,” Mr. Clark said.

By using the unique concept of an independent Docking Station, the Orbiter can be quickly located in the channel - the high visibility docking station provides warehouse operatives a fast yet simple visual identification of which channel the Orbiter is operational. It also acts as an additional safety device effectively blocking the aisle from personal access.
